Lady Feeding Rabbits Eduardo John Menta
This painting by Edouard John Menta depicts a lady feeding her rabbits, housed in a decorative montparnasse frame. Born in Geneva, Menta was a pupil of Barthlemy Menn. Beginning as a landscape painter he moved on to focusing on portraits and genre scenes. In 1874, Menta debuted at an exhibition in Geneva, which led to regular exhibitions in France. From around 1880, the artist lived in Nice on the Cte d'Azur, most likely depicted here. The Muse des Beaux-Arts in Nice house many of his works.
There are two old repairs in the foliage above the sitters head, detailed in images, and the slip has been made to fit this painting into this frame.
